US probes allegations of DeVry false statements

DeVry Inc., the provider of technical and college degrees, was accused of filing false statements to the government and will turn over documents on recruiter pay and performance to the Justice Department civil division.

The department requested documents "and other information" from DeVry earlier this month after receiving allegations that the company may have submitted false claims or statements to the U.S. Education Department, Oak brook Terrace-based DeVry said in a statement Monday. Additional Improvements at DeVry University in 2014/15


        The 2013–2014 report spotlights many additional improvement efforts intended to enhance the student experience, including:

  • Increasing first-time, full-time student retention through year-over-year continuous improvement efforts, with 55 percent of bachelor’s degree-seeking students retained in the 2012-2013 academic year, as compared to 50 percent reported for 2011-2012.
  • Helping students manage their finances with a new web-based tool called Manage My Loans. Students can view their academic progression in relationship to their aggregate loan limits and see the impact borrowing decisions have on their loan repayment.

DeVry University Releases 2013/14 Academic Annual Report

DeVry University today released its fifth Academic Annual Report, a transparent overview of the university’s quality initiatives and progress in the 2013–2014 academic year. The report includes information about student demographics, improvement efforts, quality metrics, program innovations and accreditation activities, among other initiatives.

The primary focus of the Academic Annual Report is to show enhancements in areas of academic quality, particularly those that help students complete their degree programs and that help to close the skills gap between education and workforce needs.

DeVry University Appoints Sheila Scott as Denver Metro President

 DeVry University today announced the appointment of Sheila Scott as president of its Denver metro campuses, effective immediately. In this role, Scott will provide executive leadership and oversee growth and profitability goals at the university’s Greenwood Village, Westminster and Colorado Springs locations.

Scott has more than 20 years of academic leadership experience, including serving as the senior national director of Student Central at DeVry University’s Denver metro campuses since 2001. Student Central is a "one-stop shop" that provides a variety of academic, financial and social services to support student success.
